Formerly called Community Based Alternatives (CBA), this program’s name changed when the services stopped being delivered by DADS, and moved to being delivered by the Star+Plus MCOs
Who is eligible:
- Age: over age 21 yrs old
- Qualifications:
- Medical necessity determination for nursing facility care – More info
- Star+Plus managed care Medicaid
Unique features:
- Age criteria: Starts at age 21.
- Roll-over: Clients aging out of MDCP are automatically evaluated for Star+Plus Waiver

Providers involved:
- Enrollment: Service Coordinator who is an employee of the Star+Plus managed care organization you chose
- Authorization: DADS STAR+PLUS Support Unit in each service area who handles functions that the MCOs do not have the authority to handle regarding waiver services, (e.g. approval or denial of waiver services can only be done by a state agency.)
